Great to meet you!

Hello! I'm so glad you're here. The decision to seek therapy is never easy, especially in a culture that tells you to pull yourself up by your bootstraps and get over it already. I've been doing this work for a long time, and I can say with confidence that no one has ever criticized themselves into feeling better. If that worked, I'd be out of a job. So, congratulations on taking this first step toward feeling better and improving your well-being.

My approach to therapy

Life can be incredibly difficult, stressful, and painful at times, and we aren't always taught the skills we need to navigate hardship successfully. I am holistic in my approach to therapy, drawing from neuroscience, stress biology, evolutionary psychology, and somatic practices as well as sound trauma-informed therapeutic interventions, such as EMDR, Internal Family Systems, mindfulness, and attachment work, to empower my clients to attain greater insight and understanding into themselves while growing, healing, and recovering. Our relationship with ourselves is the most important relationship we will ever have. My hope is that you leave therapy with your goals achieved and an unshakable sense of self that is grounded in compassion.

What you can expect from me

In the first counseling session, I do most of the talking by asking all kinds of nosy questions about your past, present, and future. I encourage you to share as much or as little as you like to your level of comfort. By the end of the first session, I hope to have a good sense of what is going on in your life, what you are experiencing, your desired outcomes, and a loose plan to help you achieve your goals. The first session is also your opportunity to see if we are a good fit. I promise, you will not hurt my feelings if you determine you would like to keep looking for someone else. Having a comfortable rapport with your therapist is priority number one and the most essential ingredient to any successful working relationship.
