Great to meet you!

Hi! I’m Heather, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with nearly 10 years of overall experience in the behavioral health field, including the last 2.5 years practicing as an LCSW. I work with adults navigating substance use, mental health challenges, and life stressors, and I believe in creating a therapeutic space where clients feel safe, seen, connected, and genuinely supported.

My therapeutic style is warm, client-centered, and direct. I value honesty and authenticity in the therapy process, while also focusing heavily on building rapport and maintaining a strong therapeutic alliance. I believe meaningful change happens when clients feel understood, empowered, and confident in their ability to grow.

I primarily specialize in substance abuse treatment, though I also have extensive experience working in mental health treatment. Because mental health and substance use often go hand in hand, I approach treatment from a co-occurring perspective that addresses the whole person rather than isolated symptoms.

My approach to therapy

In sessions, I commonly use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and incorporate other evidence-based approaches depending on each client’s individual needs and goals. My goal is to help clients build insight, strengthen coping skills, and develop the confidence needed to make lasting, positive changes in their lives.

Whether you are seeking support for recovery, mental health concerns, or personal growth, I strive to provide a compassionate and collaborative environment where healing and progress feel possible.

What you can expect from me

The first session with me is really about getting to know you and creating a space where you feel comfortable enough to be honest about what’s going on. I know starting therapy can feel awkward or uncomfortable, so I focus heavily on building rapport and making sure clients feel safe, seen, and understood from the beginning.

I tend to be warm, direct, and conversational in my approach. I’m not the type of therapist who just sits silently and nods the whole session. I want our work together to feel genuine and collaborative. In the first session, we’ll talk about what brought you in, what’s been weighing on you, and what you would like to see change in your life. We’ll also look at any mental health or substance use concerns as a whole.

I like to spend time understanding your strengths, coping patterns, relationships, and past experiences with therapy or treatment so I can tailor your care to what actually works for you. My goal is for clients to leave the first session feeling heard, supported, and hopeful that change is possible.
