Great to meet you!

My name is Heather Thompson and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I came into this field after being helped and inspired by an LCSW in my own therapy as a teenager.

I use a warm, nonjudgemental approach with other evidenced based practices. I also find it helpful to build on the strengths you already have.

My approach to therapy

When we first start meeting we'll work to build rapport. You can see my style and get to know me some. I know it is hard to start working with someone you don't know. We will chat about what is bringing you to therapy, sharing with me only what you are comfortable sharing. We will work at your pace toward the goals you have identified for treatment. I will encourage new skill use and trying new things, as I have seen the most progress in those willing to safely step outside their comfort zone.

What you can expect from me

You can expect to take away new skills to use in your daily life, new perspectives and a new confidence in yourself. My aim is always for someone to walk away from treatment with the tools to live their best life.
