Heather Thompson

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Clinical Addiction Counselor. Most of my experience has been with teens who are struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use, and are involved in the juvenile justice system because of their decision making. I am currently a student pursuing my Doctor of Social Work and believe whole-heartedly in treating mental health and substance use concurrently, including the family as an integral part of the recovery process.

I don't want therapy to be boring, but I also want to work toward treatment goals in every session. Building a relationship of trust allows me to balance both humor and addressing potentially difficult topics with specific goals in mind. I'm fairly direct in my approach because I don't want to waste your time or money.

My clients are often given challenges to consider or practice between sessions. They will leave sessions with new ideas that challenge their existing ones and some type of activity or homework to practice before the next session.
