Heather obtained her Master of Social Work from Adelphi University in 2016. Heather has worked as a mental health counselor in a community residence setting, a case manager in an Apartment Treatment program, a case manager working on an ACT (Assisted Community Treatment) team, and as a clinical social worker at a co-occurring substance use and mental health outpatient clinic. Heather’s MSW internships included working in a high school and at the Veteran Affairs hospital.

My approach to therapy

Heather believes that treatment is a collaborative effort that requires honesty without judgment and assists her clients in identifying and clarifying their goals for treatment. Her treatment style is a mix of various methods to meet the needs of the individual and fit the situation. As a therapist, she is direct yet encouraging, combining experience, education, and a realistic approach.

With such vast experiences, Heather utilizes her expertise to assist patients with identify stressors that affect many individuals at some time in their lives which may include addictions to alcohol and drugs, mental health issues, and relationship issues. Through her work, Heather is committed to helping people overcome by barriers, identify strengths, and develop a treatment plan to overcome their stressors and reach their goal(s).
