Great to meet you!

My name is Heather, and I have been practicing as a Licensed Professional Counselor since 2014. I hold a graduate degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, which has shaped my systemic approach to counseling. I believe that individuals are deeply influenced by their relationships, family dynamics, environments, and life experiences, and I work to understand clients within the context of these interconnected systems.

Early in my career, I worked at a residential treatment center serving adolescents and young adults struggling with substance use disorders, process addictions, trauma, and behavioral challenges. This experience allowed me to work not only with teens and young adults, but also with parents, siblings, and extended family members, giving me a broad understanding of the impact mental health and addiction can have on the entire family system.

In addition to clinical practice, I have experience in mental health education, nonprofit organizations, and school settings. These diverse roles have strengthened my ability to support clients through a variety of life transitions, emotional challenges, and relationship concerns.

My areas of specialization include trauma, addiction and recovery, adolescent and young adult issues, family dynamics, behavioral concerns, and relationship challenges. I strive to create a counseling environment that is warm, empathetic, and client-centered while also helping clients identify practical solutions and meaningful steps toward growth and healing.

As a Christian, I am comfortable integrating faith into the counseling process for clients who desire a faith-based perspective. My goal is to meet each client where they are, honoring their values and beliefs while helping them build healthier relationships, greater self-awareness, and lasting positive change.

My approach to therapy

My approach to counseling is client-centered, compassionate, and collaborative. I strive to create a warm, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel safe, heard, and valued as they navigate life’s challenges. I believe that each person is the expert on their own experience, and I work alongside clients to identify strengths, foster resilience, and develop practical solutions that support meaningful growth and lasting change.

As a therapist with training in trauma and addiction, I recognize the profound impact that past experiences, relationships, and life circumstances can have on emotional well-being. I utilize a systems perspective, considering the ways family dynamics, relationships, community, faith, and broader life experiences influence each client’s story.

For clients who desire it, I am honored to integrate Christian faith and biblical principles into the therapeutic process. My goal is to support clients holistically—emotionally, relationally, spiritually, and practically—while helping them move toward healing, greater self-awareness, healthier relationships, and a more fulfilling life.

Above all, I seek to provide therapy that is empathetic, solution-focused, and tailored to the unique needs and goals of each individual.

What you can expect from me

During our first session, my goal is to get to know you and better understand what has brought you to therapy at this point in your life. We will review your intake information, discuss relevant personal history and background, and explore any concerns you would like me to know about. We will also talk about your goals for therapy, what meaningful progress would look like for you, and my approach to the counseling process. This session is an opportunity for us to begin building a therapeutic relationship and determine how we can work together toward your goals.
