Great to meet you!

I am so glad that you have decided to enter counseling!

I have experience as both a counselor and counselee and understand what it is like to be scared or skeptical of counseling. I have also had pain, shame, and grief that a caring counselor helped me walk through, that allowed my heart to heal. It was after my own healing that I decided to help others. I am a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) and a certified addiction professional (CAP). I have a Master of Arts in Counseling from Reformed Theological Seminary and an Addiction Professional Diploma from NET Institute. I have a kind and caring heart, which I think is the most important out of all my qualifications. I love to hear people’s stories, and to see the changes and healing that take place in my clients. It is truly an honor to work with others, and it would be an honor to work with you!

My approach to therapy

My favorite quote for counseling is from the neuroscientist Curt Thompson, “We all come into this world looking for someone, looking for us.” This quote means that we all desire someone to pursue our hearts and to love us unconditionally. To me, this is what counseling is all about. I am going to pursue your heart and walk with you through your journey of healing. During this journey, I will use several techniques including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing (MV), inner healing and mindfulness as well as others. I want to know all of your parts, even those that you believe are unlovable. I will never reject you because of anything that you tell me. I also understand grief and can walk with you in that if that is what you are experiencing.

What you can expect from me

I like to create a warm, safe and caring environment, where you feel comfortable sharing things that are difficult and often things that you have never shared with another human being. I will hold your heart gently while you walk through your healing with me. I will never pressure you to share something that you do not feel comfortable sharing. I will also never reject you or make you feel ashamed for something that you share.
