Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Heidi Kilmer, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 15 years of experience helping individuals, couples, and families navigate relationship challenges and emotional stress. I hold a master’s degree in Marital, Couples, and Family Therapy from Capella University. Much of my work focuses on supporting people who are struggling with relationship conflict, communication breakdowns, anxiety, stress, life transitions, and patterns that leave them feeling disconnected from their partner or family.

I work with individuals and couples who may be experiencing ongoing arguments, trust issues, emotional distance, parenting stress, or difficulty balancing personal needs within relationships. My goal is to help clients better understand themselves and their relationship patterns so they can improve communication, strengthen emotional connection, and create healthier, more supportive relationships.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is collaborative, flexible, and centered on helping clients reconnect with their authentic selves while improving their relationships. I believe many emotional struggles - including anxiety, stress, resentment, or relationship dissatisfaction - are often connected to patterns in communication, unmet needs, or unresolved experiences.

In our work together, we explore these patterns in a supportive and non-judgmental environment. I help clients build stronger communication skills, improve emotional awareness, and develop healthier ways of responding to conflict or stress. Therapy focuses on strengthening relationships, increasing self-understanding, and creating meaningful changes that improve both personal well-being and relationship satisfaction.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, we will spend time getting to know one another and discussing what brings you to therapy. We will explore your history, the concerns you are currently experiencing, and the goals you would like to work toward. This may include challenges such as relationship conflict, communication struggles, stress within the family, emotional disconnection, or anxiety related to life transitions.

The first session is designed to create a comfortable space where you can begin sharing openly and honestly. Together we will begin developing a working relationship built on trust, openness, and collaboration while identifying the first steps toward strengthening your relationships and improving your overall emotional well-being.
