Great to meet you!

Hello and welcome. I’m Helma Jafari, a licensed psychotherapist with a trauma-informed and culturally sensitive approach to care. I am deeply committed to supporting individuals in reconnecting with themselves, healing, and growing in meaningful ways.

My work is grounded in compassion and curiosity. I integrate psychodynamic therapy, mindfulness, and evidence-based approaches to help you better understand yourself, process past experiences, and cultivate more fulfilling relationships within yourself and in your connection with the world around you.

As a bilingual therapist offering sessions in both English and Farsi, and as someone with a bicultural background, I bring an understanding of the complexities of identity, culture, and life transitions. I have experience working with diverse populations and aim to create a space where you feel seen, respected, and understood.

In our work together, we create space to better understand your experiences and connect with your inner wisdom and strength. I invite you to imagine a life beyond fear, where there is space for healing and connection, and where you can become the author of your own story.

My approach to therapy

I take a holistic and client-centered approach to therapy. This means our work together is collaborative—we move at a pace that feels right for you, focusing on what matters most in your life.

I help you understand what’s going on in your life right now—your thoughts, emotions, and patterns—and how they may be manifesting in your relationships, work, or sense of self. I also incorporate mindfulness to help you become more aware of your internal experience and feel more present and grounded in your daily life. If it feels helpful, we can explore past experiences in a way that feels safe and manageable, so you can begin to make sense of things and move forward with more clarity.

My approach combines insight and practical tools. I’m trained in psychodynamic therapy and Compassionate Inquiry, and I also use evidence-based methods such as mindfulness and cognitive-behavioral techniques. I have experience supporting adults with anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, and stress-related challenges, as well as issues related to relationships, identity, and life transitions.

I also work with individuals navigating grief, family dynamics, cultural and identity-related experiences, and patterns that may feel difficult to change. My goal is to create a space where you feel understood and supported while building tools that you can use in your everyday life.

I tailor therapy to each person, honoring your unique journey and experiences. Together, we focus on what feels most meaningful to you, while supporting you in building greater awareness and inner compassion for yourself—so you can feel more grounded, more confident, and more connected in your life and relationships.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, you can expect a welcoming and supportive space where we begin getting to know each other. We’ll talk about what brings you to therapy, what you’ve been experiencing, and what you would like support with.

I may ask some questions to better understand your background and current concerns, and we will move at a pace that feels comfortable for you. There is no pressure to share everything at once—this is your space.

You can also use this time to ask any questions and get a sense of how I work, so you can decide if it feels like a good fit.

By the end of the session, my goal is for you to feel heard, understood, and have a clearer sense of how we can move forward together in a way that feels supportive and meaningful for you.
