My approach offers non-judgmental active listening and feedback so the client knows they are being heard. I give them the space to tell me what they can about their struggles and goals. In addition to supportive problem solving, I work with clients to identify strengths and passions so they can begin building their self-care skills. These skills can be empowering to make meaningful change in their life.
A strength and interest is to empower clients to feel and recognize they have power in their lives. This begins with identifying strengths, interests, and passions to build their own self-care toolbox. Once started, they begin to feel better, improving their odds of making meaningful change in their lives.
I view therapy with most clients as being short-term solution focused therapy. I believe many people know or can learn the skills needed to take care of themselves. Everyone has bumps in the road of life and need a little support to get through it.
