Great to meet you!

Are you constantly asking yourself “what if,” worrying about what other people think, or feeling triggered by situations and relationships that seem difficult to understand? Maybe you’re struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, chronic pain, or relationship challenges and aren’t quite sure what is causing you to feel this way. I’m Holly Doughty, a Licensed Professional Counselor and EMDR and DBT therapist who works with children, teens, and adults. I specialize in anxiety, trauma, relationships, depression, and chronic pain, and I have experience helping clients work through difficult patterns, emotional distress, and life experiences that can feel overwhelming. As a mother, I also understand that life can be complicated, and sometimes you need a place where you can be honest about what you’re carrying.

My approach to therapy

I’m warm, direct, and straightforward in my approach. I use EMDR, DBT, CBT, Motivational Interviewing, and other approaches depending on what makes sense for you and your goals. I don’t believe therapy should be one-size-fits-all. Sometimes you need to slow down and understand where a reaction is coming from, and sometimes you need practical tools to handle what is happening right now. I also use analogies and plenty of humor because therapy doesn’t have to feel heavy every minute. I often describe our work this way: you’re in the driver’s seat, and I’m in the passenger seat helping you navigate where you want to go.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is about building rapport and getting to know you as a person, not just focusing on a diagnosis or a list of symptoms. We’ll talk about what brought you to therapy, what you’ve been experiencing, and what you would like to change. I’ll ask questions, listen closely, and be honest and direct when I think it could be helpful. My goal is for you to leave with a better understanding of where we can begin and what you want your therapy journey to look like. If you’re ready to start figuring things out, choose a time on my calendar that works for you and let’s get started.
