Great to meet you!

Hello, I’m Houa, and I consider it the greatest honor to support individuals as they work toward healing, growth, and greater well-being. I earned my Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling from Viterbo University in 2021 and have experience helping clients navigate adjustment disorders, anxiety, depression, and multicultural concerns. My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and grounded in creating a safe space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered. I believe healing looks different for everyone and their story, and I am committed to meeting you where you are while helping you build the tools and insight needed to move forward with your healing journey and growth.

My approach to therapy

My counseling approach is grounded in, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Strengths-based and Narrative Therapy principles, with the belief that each person already holds strengths, resilience, and the capacity for change. I work from a collaborative perspective, helping clients identify and build upon their existing tools to navigate challenges and create meaningful change. Along the way, I will provide education, practical suggestions, skill-building strategies, and emotional support to help you better understand yourself and your experiences. My goal is to create a safe, supportive space where you feel empowered to rewrite your story and move toward the life you want to build.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, you can expect us to review informed consent, confidentiality, intake paperwork, and begin discussing your treatment goals. This initial session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another, explore what brings you to counseling, and identify what you hope to gain from the process. I approach therapy collaboratively, meaning your voice, experiences, and goals help guide the work we do together. My goal is to create a safe and supportive space where you feel comfortable, empowered, and actively involved in your healing journey.
