Great to meet you!

I’m Dr. Ian Glickman, a licensed psychologist in Iowa with decades of experience helping individuals, couples, families, groups, and veterans work through some of life’s most difficult challenges. Over the course of my career, I’ve provided thousands of hours of therapy and have worked extensively with veterans experiencing PTSD, as well as clients navigating anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, relationship strain, workplace stress, life transitions, and personal growth.

My style is respectful, supportive, friendly, and affirming. I believe therapy should feel like a safe place where you can speak honestly, feel understood, and begin reconnecting with your strengths, values, and goals. Whether you are going through a painful season, feeling stuck, struggling in a relationship, or simply needing support through a tough patch in the road, I would be honored to help you take that next step forward.

My approach to therapy

My approach is collaborative, empowering, and grounded in decades of doctoral-level clinical experience. I draw from evidence-based and mindfulness-based therapies, including ACT, CBT, mindfulness, meditation, and holistic wellness principles, to help clients build insight, reduce distress, and move toward meaningful change.

As a generalist, I tailor therapy to the person in front of me. For some clients, our work may focus on managing anxiety, depression, trauma, or stress. For others, it may involve improving communication, resolving conflict, strengthening relationships, clarifying values, or finding renewed purpose and direction. I have also consulted internationally on topics such as PTSD, meditation, peace-building, and optimal brain functioning. This work has deepened my belief that healing, resilience, and growth are possible — even during deeply challenging times.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, you can expect a warm, respectful, and nonjudgmental conversation. We’ll take time to talk about what brings you to therapy, what you’ve been carrying, and what you hope might feel different in your life. You do not need to have everything figured out before we begin. Many people come to therapy feeling anxious, overwhelmed, isolated, uncertain, or unsure where to start. That is completely okay. The first session is simply a place to begin — to be heard, to ask questions, and to start identifying goals that feel meaningful and realistic for you.

My hope is that you leave our first meeting feeling supported, encouraged, and reminded that you do not have to suffer in silence.
