Great to meet you!

I have 31 years of experience supporting older teens, adults, and couples through life adjustment, Christian counseling, anxiety, career changes, depression, marriage and premarital concerns, relationship challenges, ADHD, and anger issues. I also work with military members adjusting to life changes during and after service. As a retired military veteran, I understand the courage it takes to seek support and begin a new chapter. My background also includes counseling referred individuals in various church settings.

My approach to therapy

My approach is grounded in encouragement, support, and practical tools for healthy decision-making and meaningful behavioral change. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and an integrated approach that considers the body, mind, and spirit. I have developed and directed two University Counseling Centers, created the first Americans with Disabilities Act programs at the University of Texas at Tyler, and provided and supervised services for students with special needs.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, my goal is for you to feel cared for, heard, and hopeful that change is possible. We will begin by discussing what brings you to counseling and identifying your initial goals. I will gather relevant historical information and basic integrated health information, while giving you space to express your concerns. Together, we will establish a thoughtful starting point for therapy that reflects your needs and priorities. You do not need to have everything figured out before we begin.
