Great to meet you!

My name is Ijeoma Nwokoro, and my journey in healthcare began as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), a role I held for five years. I then advanced my training to become a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), and just a year later, I earned my Registered Nurse (RN) license. I worked as an RN for nine years before completing my Bachelor’s in Nursing.

Two years after that, I earned my Master’s in Nursing as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). Throughout my career, I have gained extensive experience in long-term care and rehab, often as a dedicated night-shift nurse, as well as in psychiatric facilities, substance abuse treatment settings, and with the Veterans Affairs.

I have had the privilege of working with diverse patient populations, including individuals with a wide range of mental health conditions and those navigating substance use challenges. My career reflects both a passion for mental health care and a commitment to supporting patients through every stage of their wellness journey.

My approach to therapy

Effective mental health care is built on collaboration, compassion, and respect. I work closely with each patient to understand their unique experiences, needs, and goals. My role is not only to prescribe medication when appropriate but also to educate and empower patients to take an active role in their treatment.

I combine evidence-based medication management with encouragement for therapy, lifestyle changes, and healthy coping strategies. I see each patient as a whole person—not just a diagnosis—and I strive to create a safe, judgment-free space where they can openly share concerns.

Ultimately, my goal is to help patients achieve meaningful and lasting improvements in their mental health and quality of life by working together as a team.

What you can expect from me

A clearer understanding of their symptoms and how these relate to their overall mental health.

A personalized treatment plan that outlines medication options, coping strategies, and next steps.

Practical tools and education that they can use between sessions to manage stress, improve focus, and support emotional balance.

A sense of partnership and support, knowing they have someone who listens without judgment and is committed to their progress.

Encouragement and accountability to help them stay motivated and on track toward their goals.

My aim is for each client to walk away feeling heard, supported, and equipped to take positive steps toward better mental health.
