Great to meet you!

My name is Imaan Ahmed and I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in the state of IL and a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of AZ. I earned my Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from Northwestern University and have experience working with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families in outpatient and higher levels of care.

I believe therapy is most effective when clients feel genuinely understood, supported, and empowered. My approach is collaborative, evidence-based, and tailored to each individual's unique experiences and goals. I strive to create a space where clients feel safe exploring difficult emotions, gaining insight into patterns that may be keeping them stuck, and building practical skills to create lasting change.

I have a particular passion for helping individuals navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship concerns, life transitions, emotional regulation, self-esteem, and identity development. My work often integrates approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness-based interventions, while also recognizing the important role that the nervous system plays in emotional well-being.

As someone who grew up in a South Asian and Muslim community, I understand the importance of culturally responsive care and the impact that family, culture, identity, and faith can have on mental health. Whether these aspects are central to your therapy or simply part of your story, I strive to provide care that respects your values and lived experiences. Above all, my goal is to help clients move beyond simply managing symptoms toward developing greater self-understanding, resilience, and confidence so they can build a life that feels meaningful and authentic to them.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is collaborative, compassionate, and individualized. I believe every person brings a unique story, and I work to understand not only the challenges you're facing today but also the experiences and patterns that have shaped them. Together, we'll identify meaningful goals and create a treatment plan that fits your needs and values.

I take an integrative, evidence-based approach to treatment, drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Positive Psychology, Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Somatic work and mindfulness-based practices. I also incorporate education about the nervous system to help clients better understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, physical sensations, and behaviors. My goal is to help clients move beyond simply understanding why they feel the way they do and develop practical tools to regulate emotions, navigate stress, and create lasting change.

Whether we're working through anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship concerns, life transitions, or self-esteem, I strive to create a supportive environment where clients feel challenged, understood, and empowered. I view therapy as a collaborative process that helps clients build insight, strengthen resilience, and move toward a life that feels more authentic and aligned with their values.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin building a strong therapeutic relationship. My goal is to create a welcoming, nonjudgmental space where you feel comfortable sharing at your own pace. We'll spend time discussing what brings you to therapy, your current concerns, relevant background, and what you hope to gain from our work together.

Together, we'll begin identifying your goals and develop a plan that feels meaningful and achievable. While the first session is primarily focused on understanding your experiences, I also like to provide practical tools or insights when appropriate so you can leave feeling supported and with a clearer understanding of the path forward.

Above all, I want clients to leave their first session feeling heard, understood, and hopeful that meaningful change is possible.
