Great to meet you!

Hello, I'm Dr. Irfana Patla, PsyD, a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I am dedicated to helping individuals overcome life's challenges and achieve lasting personal growth. I specialize in treating a variety of mental health disorders, including anxiety, depression, trauma, personality disorders, self-esteem issues, and relationship difficulties. My approach is integrative, evidence-based, culturally sensitive, and compassionate. I combine insights from cognitive-behavioral techniques and person-centered and existential perspectives. I strive to create a safe and supportive space where clients can explore their emotions, build resilience, and develop the tools necessary for meaningful change.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is integrative and rooted in evidence-based practices, blending compassion with cultural sensitivity. I draw from a rich tapestry of methodologies, including cognitive-behavioral techniques that address thought patterns, psychodynamic therapy that delves into the unconscious, and mindfulness practices that cultivate present-moment awareness. Additionally, I incorporate a person-centered approach that emphasizes the individual’s unique experiences alongside solution-focused strategies that aim to find practical solutions to challenges. Motivational interviewing techniques encourage clients to engage actively in their own growth, while existential perspectives foster exploration of life’s deeper meanings. By integrating insights from neuroscience, I ensure that my practice is informed by the latest understanding of the mind-body connection. My goal is to create a safe, welcoming space where clients feel supported as they navigate their emotions, build resilience, and equip themselves with the essential tools for achieving meaningful and lasting change in their lives.

What you can expect from me

I provide compassionate and evidence-based therapy to adults and adolescents (14+) through individual and couples counseling. In individual therapy, I work with clients facing a range of mental health challenges, including generalized anxiety, depression, PTSD, OCD, and social anxiety. I also specialize in treating complex and chronic conditions such as bipolar disorder and personality disorders, as well as those struggling with low self-esteem, identity exploration, and existential concerns. In couples counseling, I help partners navigate communication breakdowns, trust issues, and attachment dynamics to foster deeper connection and long-term relationship satisfaction.

My communication style is warm, compassionate, and collaborative, creating a safe and nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard, valued, and empowered. I balance deep empathy with directness, offering honest insights while respecting each client’s unique journey. I highlight and build upon clients’ strengths, helping them recognize their resilience, capabilities, and inner wisdom. Sessions with me feel supportive yet thought-provoking, as I gently challenge unhelpful patterns and encourage personal growth. My goal is to foster a therapeutic relationship built on trust, authenticity, and mutual respect, allowing clients to gain clarity, develop confidence, and create meaningful, lasting change.

I take a collaborative and personalized approach to goal setting, ensuring that each client’s goals align with their values, strengths, and unique journey. I help clients create clear and attainable objectives that promote meaningful progress. Together, we explore their aspirations, challenges, and underlying needs, breaking goals into manageable steps while maintaining flexibility for growth and self-discovery. By tracking progress and adjusting as needed, I empower clients to build confidence, resilience, and long-term success in their healing and personal development.
