Great to meet you!

Have you ever felt like everyone else was given a rulebook you never received? Like no matter how hard you try, you’re still just keeping your head above water? Maybe you’re navigating a major life transition, trying to understand yourself or your relationships differently, or feeling ready for change without knowing where to start.

I’m Iris Haas-Biel, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), and I work with neurodivergent and neurotypical adults navigating ADHD, life transitions, relationship dynamics, and personal growth.

I have extensive experience and specialized training in working with adults with ADHD, including people who receive a diagnosis later in life. A diagnosis can bring relief and validation, but it can also mean revisiting years of feeling misunderstood, struggling to keep up, or believing you should be able to do more. Together, we can make sense of those experiences, understand how ADHD may be affecting different areas of your life, and reconnect with who you are beyond the expectations and coping strategies that helped you get by.

You don't need a diagnosis or a clear idea of what you want to change to begin therapy. Whether you're trying to understand yourself better, find your footing during a transition, improve your relationships, or simply feel that something in your life needs to shift, we can start with where you are.

My approach to therapy

I see therapy as a partnership. You are the expert on your life, and I bring my expertise in therapy. We draw on both to build understanding and create meaningful change. My approach draws on narrative therapy, psychoeducation, and a person-centered perspective. Together, we can explore the stories you tell yourself, understand the patterns that shape your experiences, and identify what you want your life to look and feel like.

I value building a genuine therapeutic relationship grounded in empathy, honesty, and respect. That means making room for difficult conversations, looking at the things within our control, and acknowledging the things we may want to do differently. I'm not interested in offering reassurance that ignores what's difficult or telling you what you want to hear just to make things feel better in the moment. Instead, I want to help you approach yourself with curiosity rather than judgment, recognize your options, and move toward meaningful change.

Sometimes that means learning more about how your brain works. Other times, it means examining relationship dynamics, reconsidering expectations you've held yourself to, or rediscovering parts of yourself that have been pushed aside. Wherever we begin, my goal is to help you develop a deeper understanding of yourself and find ways to work with yourself rather than against yourself.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other, talk about what's bringing you to therapy, and begin exploring what you'd like to be different. You don't need to arrive with a clear plan or perfectly articulated goals. We can start with what's feeling difficult, what you wish were different, or what you haven't quite been able to put into words.

Together, we'll begin identifying goals while staying curious about the parts of your life that may be connected in ways you haven't yet recognized. We might explore how ADHD affects your relationships, how a life transition is changing your sense of identity, or why you feel stuck even when you're trying your best.

My hope is that therapy becomes a space where you can slow down, better understand yourself, and begin working with yourself rather than against yourself. We'll figure out the next steps together, at a pace that allows us to build understanding and create change that feels meaningful to you.
