Great to meet you!

Board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) Irulan Henderson has extensive clinical experience in medical-surgical, critical care, and behavioral health. Her PMHNP certification, MSN, and BSN degrees from Sacred Heart University were complemented by her psychology background and commitment to evidence-based psychiatric care.

After a decade of nursing, she brings a deeply integrated, patient-centered approach to mental health care that addresses the psychological, emotional, and physical aspects of wellness. She is passionate about promoting mental wellness and improving access to quality psychiatric care.

My approach to care is grounded in evidence-based practices, including medication management, psychotherapy, and mindfulness. I believe that healing and growth happen best within a supportive and collaborative environment. I work closely with a skilled and compassionate treatment team, including an experienced psychiatrist.

My approach to therapy

My approach to providing care is patient-centered, holistic, and evidence-based. As a PMHNP, I focus on understanding each individual’s unique experiences, values, and goals, recognizing that mental health is influenced by biological, psychological, and social factors. I strive to build a therapeutic alliance grounded in trust, empathy, and open communication.

I use evidence-based practices to guide diagnosis and treatment, which may include psychotherapy, medication management, or a combination of both. I also emphasize patient education and shared decision-making, ensuring individuals feel informed and empowered in their care.

Ultimately, my goal is to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where patients feel heard and supported, while helping them achieve meaningful and sustainable improvements in their mental health and overall well-being

What you can expect from me

In our first session, you can expect a relaxed, welcoming space where you don’t have to have everything figured out. My goal is to get to know you—not just what’s been going on, but who you are as a person.

We’ll talk about what brought you in, any challenges you’ve been facing, and your history, but there’s no pressure to share everything all at once. You can go at your own pace. I’ll ask some questions to help guide us, and you’re always free to ask questions too.

By the end of our time, we’ll start to look at what support might be most helpful for you and talk through next steps together. Whether that includes therapy, medication, or both, we’ll make those decisions as a team.

Most importantly, I want you to leave feeling heard, respected, and a little more at ease about the process.
