Jackelyn Alvarez Fernandez

Hello, I'm Jackelyn Alvarez, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in New Jersey. I earned my Masters of Social Work degree from Rutgers University in 2017. With several years of experience, I've worked across diverse settings including Respite care, Supportive housing, Outpatient clinic, and Intensive In Community Counseling. Fluent in Spanish, I also have extensive experience conducting telehealth sessions. I've worked with individuals of all ages, from children to geriatric populations.

My counseling style is holistic, supportive, genuine & compassionate. I like to take a client-centered approach & by this I mean, meeting you at your pace. I want to make sure you don't feel pressured yet validated & comfortable enough to work together on your desired goals. My role is to help my clients learn new ways of thinking & working through difficulties by helping you identify obstacles that may be hindering your progress. Together we can help find a healthier version of yourself!

I utilize evidence-based therapies, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Parent Coaching, Solution- Focused Therapy, Attachment Based Family therapy, and Psychodynamic Therapy. I believe there isn't a once size fit all approach and I will help create an individualized treatment plan that is best to fit your needs. I make sure to create a welcoming, safe environment for you.
