Great to meet you!

After a dozen years in professional youth ministry, I went back to school to become a Marriage and Family Therapist. I am passionate about serving my community and helping people navigate emotional and relational turmoil in their lives with warmth, affirmation, and a little bit of humor. I have been on staff at Pathways Counseling in Murfreesboro, TN for about 5 years and absolutely love it! I primarily work with adolescents and adults, and am comfortable seeing individuals, couples, or family units in a variety of ways to enhance emotional awareness, develop better communication skills, and strengthen relationships.

My approach to therapy

Everyone has emotions, so we might as well figure out what to do with them, right? Understanding and connecting with ourselves helps us connect more effectively with others. With that in mind, I approach issues with my clients from an attachment perspective to help them organize and understand their emotions and experiences. Together, my clients and I use these insights to help them pursue relationships in healthy ways while keeping their personal goals and values in mind. I am experienced in guiding people through their emotional or relational distress to help them get back on track or even discover new ways to move forward in life. I have spent a lot of time working with highly distressed couples going through significant life changes or deeply wounding experiences, or individuals grappling with their own emotional struggles.

What you can expect from me

One of my main goals for the first session is to help clients feel comfortable with me and help them feel at ease with how the therapeutic process can work for them. We'll discuss the issues that bring them to therapy in the first place and identify the goals we all have for the process so that we can share a sense of direction moving forward as we tailor the process to fit the client's specific needs.
