Great to meet you!

If substance use is affecting your life or you are unsure where to begin making a change, you do not have to figure it out alone. I help adults who are struggling with alcohol or drug use, working toward recovery, or looking for support in maintaining changes they have already made.

My name is Jake, and I have many years of experience in addiction treatment, including inpatient and outpatient counseling. I believe recovery involves more than changing substance use—it also means understanding yourself, strengthening relationships, and building a life that feels meaningful to you. I offer a supportive, judgment-free space where you can speak openly and work toward the goals that matter to you.

My approach to therapy

2. What is your approach to therapy?

My experience providing counseling in both inpatient and outpatient addiction treatment has shaped my supportive, practical approach. I tailor sessions to your needs using Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and skills from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).

In sessions, Motivational Interviewing means exploring your feelings about change and helping you identify your own reasons for moving forward. With CBT, we may work through a recent situation to understand how your thoughts and feelings influenced your actions and explore different ways to respond. Solution-Focused Brief Therapy helps us identify what is already working and choose small, achievable steps toward your goals. When using DBT skills, we may practice mindfulness, ways to manage strong emotions, coping with distress, or communicating your needs. Together, we will connect these strategies to your everyday experiences and explore underlying concerns that may contribute to substance use.

What you can expect from me

Our first session will be a relaxed, structured conversation where I ask questions and give you space to share what brings you to therapy. We will review confidentiality and how sessions work, then discuss your background, current challenges, and what you hope to gain from counseling. You will also have time to ask questions and share what would help you feel comfortable. You do not need to have everything figured out or share everything right away. Together, we will identify your goals and begin developing a plan that fits your needs.
