Great to meet you!

I believe therapy is most helpful in a supportive and non-judgmental environment where a person can talk honestly and openly about themselves and what they're facing. I work with adults experiencing thoughts, emotions and life challenges that can leave you feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected from the life you want to be living.

My approach is warm, person-centered and practical. Rather than telling you how you should think or feel, we'll work together to understand your experience, recognize patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and find new ways of responding to difficult thoughts and emotions. We'll also focus on what matters most to you and on taking meaningful steps toward the kind of life you want to build.

I've been in private practice as a therapist for 10 years and draw from several evidence-based approaches, including cognitive behavioral and mindfulness-based therapies. I adapt therapy to the individual rather than expecting the individual to fit a particular approach.

My approach to therapy

We'll start by developing a better understanding of what you're experiencing, the patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and what you'd like to change. An important part of that process is making sure you feel heard and understood. I want to understand your experiences from your perspective and help you make sense of your thoughts and feelings without judgment. From there, we'll work together to identify what may be helpful and tailor therapy to your individual needs and goals.

Depending on what you're facing, we may work on changing unhelpful patterns of thinking and behavior, developing healthier ways of responding to difficult thoughts and emotions, building practical skills for managing distress, or processing traumatic experiences. I draw from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

Throughout therapy, we'll focus not only on reducing distress, but also on helping you move toward what matters to you and build a life that feels more meaningful and fulfilling.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is about getting to know you and understanding what brings you to therapy. I'll ask about your background, what you've been experiencing, and what you hope might be different in your life. We'll begin identifying what you'd like to work on and how therapy might be helpful. I'll also explain what you can expect from therapy and review important information such as confidentiality.

It's completely okay if you're not sure yet what you want to work on or if there are things you don't feel ready to talk about. Building trust takes time, and there's no expectation that you share everything in the first session. This is also an opportunity for you to get a sense of who I am and how I work so that you can decide whether you feel comfortable with me and whether we're a good fit.
