My journey to becoming a psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP) took a nontraditional route. Initially leaving school to work in construction, I later earned my GED and decided I wanted to help people. This led to a degree from Vanderbilt, marking the beginning of my career in mental health.
