Great to meet you!

“Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.”

― Viktor E. Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning

I am a firm believer that life–even the best of lives– has moments of pain and suffering; however great or small. Some come to pass quickly and float away from our consciousness, while others stay with us, shape us, change our relationships and the way we see the world. The rest of our life is filled with moments dependent on how we cope with, process and accept those moments of pain or suffering.

My approach to therapy

My approach as a licensed clinical social worker and licensed therapist is heavily based in science, ethics, experience and honesty. I’m trained extensively in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and still believe it to be one of the strongest approaches to address mood dysregulation. Other modules I lean heavily on include Trauma-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TB-CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy.

My therapeutic experience is broad and diverse. I have worked with adults and adolescents (14+) presenting with a wide range of concerns and diagnoses. I have extensive experience in crisis-management and solution-focused therapy.

I bring my own personal characteristics into my therapeutic approach -- I am direct, honest, and frequently use humor when appropriate. I believe in the trust and boundaries of the professional therapeutic relationship for best possible outcome for the client.

What you can expect from me

My initial session will always be focused on the client's story, the client's therapeutic goals, and a treatment plan that outlines the time we wish to achieve those identified goals. I start with a thorough biopsychosocial assessment to ensure I'm getting all pertinent information needed to develop the appropriate treatment approach.
