Great to meet you!

Clients should know that I am passionate about helping individuals and families feel understood, supported, and empowered. I believe meaningful growth begins with a trusting relationship where clients feel comfortable being themselves without fear of judgment.

My professional background began in the field of Communication Disorders, and I became involved in the mental health field in 2000. These experiences shaped my understanding of how communication, relationships, behavior, and emotional well-being are interconnected throughout life.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Licensed Behavior Specialist (LBS) with a Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) degree. Over the years, I have worked with children, adolescents, adults, and families facing a variety of concerns, including anxiety, depression, autism spectrum disorder, behavioral challenges, life transitions, stress, and relationship difficulties. I also have experience providing autism-focused evaluations, neuropsychological assessment activities, consultation, and behavioral health services.

In addition to counseling, I have specialized training in animal-assisted interventions and am developing opportunities to incorporate therapy rabbits into therapeutic and educational experiences. I have found that animals can provide comfort, connection, and encouragement, particularly for children and individuals who may feel anxious in traditional settings.

For clients who desire it, I am also comfortable incorporating faith-based or Christian perspectives into counseling while respecting each person's individual beliefs, values, and preferences.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and rabbits, playing the organ, teaching, and being involved in my local community. My goal is to provide a welcoming environment where clients feel respected, valued, and supported as they work toward positive change.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is compassionate, collaborative, and individualized. I believe that each person brings unique strengths, experiences, and challenges to the therapeutic process, and I strive to tailor treatment to each client's specific needs and goals.

I utilize evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), solution-focused techniques, behavioral interventions, psychoeducation, and strengths-based strategies. Together, we work to identify goals, develop practical coping skills, improve communication and relationships, process difficult experiences, and build resilience.

I view therapy as a partnership. Rather than telling clients what to do, I work alongside them to better understand their concerns, identify meaningful goals, and develop strategies that can be applied in everyday life. I believe lasting change occurs when clients feel heard, supported, and actively involved in the therapeutic process.

My goal is to provide a welcoming, nonjudgmental environment where clients can explore challenges, recognize their strengths, and develop the tools needed to move forward with confidence and hope.

What you can expect from me

During the first session, clients can expect a welcoming, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment. My primary goal is to get to know you, understand what brings you to therapy, and learn about your strengths, concerns, and goals for treatment.

We will discuss your current challenges, relevant personal and family history, previous treatment experiences, and any questions you may have about the counseling process. This session is also an opportunity for you to determine whether I am a good fit for your needs and to share what you hope to gain from therapy.

Together, we will begin identifying goals and developing a plan that is tailored to your unique circumstances. While every person's experience is different, many clients leave the first session with a better understanding of the therapeutic process and a sense of direction for future sessions.

I understand that starting therapy can feel uncomfortable or overwhelming for some people. My goal is to help clients feel heard, respected, and supported from the very beginning while creating a space where they can openly discuss their thoughts, feelings, and experiences.
