Great to meet you!

My name is Jacquelyn E. Zimmerman. I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (CPC) and Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) in Nevada. My broad clinical spectrum and counseling career has extended over 20 years. I have a demonstrated record of success working with diverse adult populations presenting with multiple problems from the mildest to the most severe."I believe therapy is a relationship in which the client brings their resiliences and experiences because they are the only person who knows themselves. As the therapist, I am knowledgeable about mental health treatment. I believe that power in therapy comes from a therapeutic space and relationship where the client feels safe, trust, unconditional positive regard, and acceptance by the therapist. The therapist maintains professionalism and brings their genuine selves into the relationship and therapeutic process. We are a team. The client leads the way, and I, the therapist, am reading their road map to help each client reach their therapy goal(s). You are not alone on your journey."

My approach to therapy

I am trained in integrating complementary clinical evidence, faith, and strength-based theories and techniques, offering highly personalized styles to healing emotional, mental, spiritual, vocational, and physical sufferings. My holistic approaches to counseling are evidence-based, faith/spiritual-based, and strength-based, such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Therapy, Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Forgiveness Therapy, Mindfulness, Multicultural Counseling, Family Therapy, and I am trained in providing Dialectical Behavior Therapy. I have a Master of Education in Counseling degree from Virginia State University and a Master of Arts in Pastoral Studies (Theology) from Washington Theological Union Seminary. I earned an Advanced Certification in Pastoral Counseling from Loyola University-Maryland. I have studied as a doctoral candidate at Liberty University in the Doctor of Education Department-Community Care and Counseling, concentrating in Marriage and Family Therapy for three years with extensive study in trauma treatment, secular and faith-based clinical perspectives, and marriage and family therapy approaches.
