Great to meet you!

Sometimes life looks manageable on the outside while, internally, you feel overwhelmed, disconnected, exhausted, or unsure how much longer you can keep carrying it all. I’m Jalisa Steptoe, LCSW, and I provide therapy for adults in Texas who are ready for more than just getting by. I work with clients navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, life transitions, relationship issues, self-esteem struggles, and emotional overwhelm. My goal is to create a space where you can exhale, be honest, and start making sense of what has been weighing on you. Therapy with me is about helping you feel more grounded, more clear, and more connected to yourself — not just surviving, but moving toward real healing and lasting change.

My approach to therapy

My work is grounded in a biopsychosocial perspective, meaning I look at the biological, psychological, and social factors shaping your experience, not just the symptoms on the surface. I strive to create a collaborative, compassionate, and practical space where you feel supported as you reclaim your voice, better understand your patterns, and break free from cycles that no longer serve you. Therapy with me is meant to feel both supportive and useful — a place where you can explore anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, stress management, and life transitions without judgment while also building tools that help in everyday life. Together, we work to deepen insight, strengthen coping skills, improve emotional regulation, and create healthier ways of thinking, relating, and moving through the world. My goal is for therapy to feel human, empowering, and deeply relevant to the life you are living right now.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is a chance to slow down and let someone really listen. We’ll talk about what brought you to therapy, what has been feeling hardest lately, and what you hope will be different moving forward. Whether you are dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, relationship issues, or a major life transition, my goal is to help you feel comfortable, heard, and understood from the very beginning. You do not need to have everything figured out before you show up. We’ll start where you are, identify what support would be most helpful, and begin building a path toward healing, clarity, and meaningful progress!
