Great to meet you!

Jamell is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who earned his master’s degree in 2008 and is passionate about supporting individuals throughout their healing journeys. With extensive experience working with both youth and adults, he utilizes a variety of evidence-based therapeutic approaches tailored to each individual’s unique needs.

His training in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness-based interventions has provided him with valuable tools for helping individuals navigate depression, anxiety, grief, addiction, and trauma.

Committed to continued professional growth, Jamell is currently pursuing certifications in both Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). His approach emphasizes compassion, resilience, self-awareness, and empowering individuals to develop the skills necessary to create meaningful and lasting change in their lives.

My approach to therapy

Jamell’s approach to therapy is client-centered, insight-oriented, solution-focused, cognitive, and behavioral. He meets each individual where they are and tailors treatment to their unique needs, goals, strengths, and circumstances. His approach emphasizes creating a safe, supportive, and collaborative therapeutic environment while helping clients gain insight, develop effective coping strategies, identify practical solutions, and make meaningful behavioral changes. Jamell believes that treatment is most effective when it is individualized and responsive to the needs identified by each client.

What you can expect from me

During the first session, Jamell will complete the intake and orientation process, discuss confidentiality and documentation practices, and review important logistical information, including payment and insurance requirements, cancellation policies, and session length.

Jamell will explore the challenges, concerns, and significant life events that prompted the individual to seek therapeutic support at this time. He will also discuss the individual’s goals for therapy, including what they hope to change, achieve, or learn through the therapeutic process.

Additionally, Jamell will explain his therapeutic style and approach, answer any questions, and encourage the individual to provide feedback regarding their experience and treatment needs. If the therapeutic relationship appears to be an appropriate fit, future appointments will be scheduled to continue the therapeutic process.
