I have spent years working with people from diverse backgrounds in diverse settings, from maximum security prisons, inpatient facilities, residential substance abuse treatment, to private practice. I even draw on my insights from my time working as a hospice chaplain. I've worked with military vets and civilians, as well as individuals wanting to improve an already good life to those who are at rock bottom and the depths of despair, people who have experienced great loss, trauma, and abuse, and those working through how they relate to themselves, all the way to how the relate to humanity as a whole.
One way to think about it is that I am like a personal trainer for your mind. You bring your goals, and we collaborate to build out an approach to help you build the life you want for yourself. While you have to put in the reps of coping skills between sessions, it is through our collaboration that you may gain insights and develop skills required to leverage your resources so that you move towards your goals.
I strive to strike a balance between accountability and compassion, which looks different for everyone, but creates an environment that fosters respect, security, and authenticity.
