Hello. My name is Jami Ivey and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I have been in this field for over 25 years with the last 8 years in private practice. I graduated from the University of Louisville with a Master's in Science in Social Work. I am licensed in both Tennessee and Kentucky. I have had the opportunity to work with clients of all ages, backgrounds and in a variety of settings.
I like to get to know my clients during the first visit and also understand why he/she decided to seek counseling. I have more of eclectic approach to therapy, meaning I use various approaches depending on the client needs. I do use a person centered approach where the client makes the decisions about treatment and guides the sessions. The clients I see have various mental health issues and/or stressors they are dealing with in their life and are seeking help in navigating this.
Clients will make decisions about treatment and determine the goals they want to work towards. The session will involve working towards these goals. I work to have an environment where clients feel free to discuss any issues they need to and work on identifying possible solutions to help.
