Great to meet you!

Jami Rieffel, LMFT

Founder & Therapist, CoAuthored Therapy

I believe therapy is most powerful when it feels like a story we write together. I bring a collaborative, narrative-based approach to working with individuals, couples, and families. My goal is to create a space where clients feel both supported and empowered to re-author the stories that shape their lives.

I earned my Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from National University, where I focused on systems theory and narrative practice. Over the years, I’ve worked with diverse populations supporting clients through challenges such as relationship transitions, trauma recovery, and identity exploration.

My approach to therapy

My goal is to support clients in creating the relationships and life they envision. Whether a family is navigating crisis, a couple is working to deepen their connection, an individual is managing mental health and diagnosis, or parents are seeking more meaningful relationships with their children—I meet each client exactly where they are in their life story. Together, we co-author a new, intentional narrative rooted in growth, resilience, and authentic connection.

Grounded in systems theory, I believe that no one exists in isolation—our relationships with ourselves and others shape nearly every aspect of our lives. Whether working with individuals, couples, or families, I strive to gently challenge the narratives we hold about ourselves and those around us. Through empathy, curiosity, and collaboration, I help clients explore new perspectives and co-create more authentic, connected ways of being.

If you're feeling stuck—within yourself or in your relationships—I'd be honored to walk alongside you. Together, we can clarify what you want your life and connections to look like, and take meaningful steps toward that vision. Life can be messy, but you don’t have to face it—or clean it up—alone.

What you can expect from me

Beginning therapy can feel both hopeful and uncertain, so I aim to make our first session a welcoming space where you feel heard and supported. We’ll spend time getting to know each other, exploring what brings you to therapy, and identifying the goals you’d like to work toward.

You can expect:

  • A collaborative conversation — I’ll invite you to share your story in your own words, while I listen closely and ask thoughtful questions.
  • Clarifying your hopes — Together, we’ll begin to outline what you’d like to change, strengthen, or better understand in your life or relationships.
  • Exploring patterns and context — I’ll help you notice themes, dynamics, or narratives that may be shaping your experiences.
  • Practical next steps — We’ll discuss how therapy can support you moving forward, and I’ll share what our work together might look like.

My approach is narrative and relational, which means I see you as the expert of your own life. The first session isn’t about labels or quick fixes—it’s about building trust, creating a shared language, and beginning a process that feels meaningful and empowering.
