Great to meet you!
I have been a therapist for almost 20 years, working with many youth, families, and adults. I am very client centered, helping facilitate change through the goals and objectives of my clients, being able to help them attain what they set out to work towards. I understand the therapeutic process can be overwhelming and difficult for the client, and want to be able to help them through that therapeutic process as much as the therapeutic content that they wish to work on.
I have extensive experience working with those that have been wrapped up in the criminal justice system, have experienced their first episode of psychosis, and clients that struggle with engagement in therapy. Many clients I have worked with have been mandated by the court system to participate, or sometimes even "mandated" by their loved ones to seek support, and I encourage that in any of these situations, we can find common goals to work towards. I highly believe that the first step is finding a therapist you can trust to be vulnerable with, and that this does not mean that you have to have all of your goals and objectives already defined before you meet with a therapist; what we're working towards can be developed along that pathway.
I recognize that not everyone that signs up with a therapist truly wants to be present in session, but I declare this is a chance to work through why you're here and to advance progressively.
