Great to meet you!

As Co-Owner and Chief Clinical Officer of Lydian Counseling & Consultation, LLC, located in the Columbus, OH Short North Arts District, I bring a direct, honest approach to therapy grounded in the belief that there is no one-size-fits-all path to healing. I specialize in treating a variety of mental health concerns, couples and marriage challenges, and problematic substance use and addiction for clients ages 13 and up. No matter what brings you in, I tailor care around your stated goals rather than a predetermined template. My style is candid and straightforward; I'll be honest with you about what I'm observing, but I won't tell you what to do. You're the expert on your own life, and my job is to help you get on a clearer path that fits you. I hold a Bachelor's in Social Work from The Ohio State University and a Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Dayton, and I'm a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in Ohio with an active LPCC license in California as well. I completed an Addiction Medicine fellowship at Kaiser Permanente in Daly City, CA. I'm also a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, which informs how I approach the connection between past experiences and present struggles. If you're looking for a therapist who will meet you where you are, tell it to you straight, and help you find your way forward, I'd welcome the chance to work with you.

My approach to therapy

What sets me apart as a therapist is my genuine curiosity about the person sitting across from me. I don’t see people through the lens of a diagnosis or a treatment protocol. I see a whole human being with a life story unlike anyone else’s. Every experience you’ve had, every relationship that shaped you, and every silent struggle you’ve carried is an important piece of your story. That deep respect for your individuality isn’t just a value I hold, it’s the foundation of every therapeutic relationship I build.

I bring a combination of clinical expertise and lived understanding to every session. I believe my directness while always showing you the upmost respect is one of my greatest strengths; I won't tell you what to do, but I will be honest with you about what I'm observing, which creates a foundation of trust and real conversation rather than surface-level reassurance. I approach each client as an individual, not a diagnosis or a category, because I've seen firsthand, both personally and through specialized training, just how different the path to healing looks for every person. My own experience navigating this life without much help has given me a genuine empathy and understanding for clients who feel like they're figuring things out on their own, and it fuels my belief in people's capacity for growth, even when they can't yet see it in themselves. Clinically, my training as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, my background in Social Work, the fellowship in Addiction Medicine, and my certification as a Clinical Trauma Professional allow me to bring a well-rounded, informed perspective to concerns ranging from mental health and trauma to relationship challenges to problematic substance use and addiction. Ultimately, I bring both competence and genuineness into the room, because I believe good therapy requires both.

What you can expect from me

Our first session typically involves a good amount of information gathering so that we can create a treatment plan that is going to fit your individual needs. Not everyone necessarily needs the same things when they enter treatment, and it is important that the work we do together is catered to those needs. I usually give you the first half of the session to explain what has been happening, describe any symptoms you are experiencing, and why you are seeking counseling. I can provide as much guidance as you feel comfortable with for this portion of the session. The second half is usually spent answering some more structured questions and collaborating with you on your treatment goals.
