Great to meet you!

Hello, I'm Jamila McCoy, a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 20 years of experience supporting individuals, couples, families, and adolescents through life's challenges. My background includes mental health, child welfare, domestic violence advocacy, reunification therapy, and working with diverse and underserved communities. I specialize in trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, family conflict, parenting, life transitions, and reunification work.

My approach to therapy

My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and strengths-based. I utilize evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Gottman Method, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and family systems approaches. I believe each client is the expert in their own life, and my role is to provide support, insight, and practical tools to help them achieve their goals.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, clients can expect a welcoming, judgment-free environment where we will discuss their concerns, strengths, and goals for therapy. Together, we'll create a plan that feels meaningful and achievable while building a strong therapeutic relationship grounded in trust, respect, and authenticity.
