Great to meet you!

Jane Alt, MA, LMFT, is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who takes a direct, compassionate, and collaborative approach to therapy. She specializes in working with individuals, couples, and families, providing a safe and supportive space where clients can explore challenges, gain insight, and create meaningful change.

Jane believes each individual brings unique experiences, emotions, and perspectives into relationships and family systems. Whether working with an individual or a couple or family, she focuses on the whole person while recognizing the impact relationships can have on emotional well-being. Her goal is to guide clients from awareness into action and help them move toward a more balanced and fulfilling life.

Jane works with couples and families who want to understand one another better but may struggle to find common ground through effective communication. She provides a space for individuals to share corrective experiences, develop new perspectives, and build healthier patterns of connection. By working with all individuals within the couple or family structure, Jane helps clients improve communication, resolve conflict, and strengthen relationships.

Jane earned her Master's degree in Clinical Psychology, with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy, from Pepperdine University. She is a member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT) and the Women's Association of Addiction Treatment (WAAT), Los Angeles Chapter. She currently consults at Reconnect, a trauma-focused facility, and is continuing her training in EMDR.

From her own journey, Jane understands that finding the right therapist can feel overwhelming. She believes deciding to take action is the first step toward a more balanced life. Whether supporting an individual, couple, or family, Jane meets clients where they are and helps them move toward meaningful, lasting change.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is direct, warm, and empowering. I believe therapy should be a space where you feel safe, heard, and understood, while also being gently challenged to look at patterns that may be keeping you stuck. I meet each client where they are and work collaboratively to identify what is getting in the way of meaningful change.

I am direct because I believe honesty creates movement. I will help you explore difficult conversations, recognize patterns, and gain clarity while maintaining compassion and respect for your individual experience. My goal is not to tell you what to do, but to help you better understand yourself, your relationships, and the choices available to you.

Whether I am working with an individual, couple, or family, I focus on creating an environment where everyone can have a voice and feel empowered to participate in the process. I believe that insight is most valuable when it leads to action. Together, we work toward practical tools, healthier communication, stronger relationships, and lasting change.

Therapy is a collaborative process, and I view my role as both a supportive guide and an active partner in that process. My hope is that you leave therapy feeling more confident, connected, and equipped to navigate life and relationships with greater clarity and intention.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another, understand what brought you to therapy, and begin identifying the changes you would like to make. I create a warm, safe, and nonjudgmental environment where you can speak openly about your experiences, concerns, and goals.

We will explore what is currently feeling difficult, patterns that may be contributing to the challenges you are experiencing, and what you hope will be different as a result of therapy. Whether you are coming in as an individual, couple, or family, we will begin developing clear, realistic goals that reflect what matters most to you.

I believe therapy should be both supportive and purposeful. From the beginning, I want you to have a sense of direction and understand how we can work together to create meaningful change. Depending on your needs, we may begin identifying communication patterns, relationship dynamics, emotional responses, or behaviors that you would like to better understand and change.

By the end of the first session, my goal is for you to feel heard, understood, and more hopeful about the possibility of change. You should leave with greater clarity about what you want to work on, an initial understanding of how therapy can help, and a sense of the steps we can take together toward your desired outcomes. Therapy is a process, and the first session is the beginning of creating a personalized path toward greater self-awareness, healthier relationships, and a more balanced life.
