I believe therapy should be a place where you feel safe enough to be honest, supported enough to explore difficult things, and respected enough to move at your own pace.

I work with children, teens, young adults, adults, and families experiencing anxiety, trauma, depression, emotional regulation challenges, life transitions, relationship difficulties, and other experiences that can leave you feeling overwhelmed or disconnected.

My background in child welfare shaped the way I understand trauma and the importance of compassionate, trauma-informed care. I also have a special interest in attachment, emotional regulation, and helping clients understand how past experiences can influence the way they respond to themselves and the people around them.

I am certified in EMDR and incorporate trauma-informed, attachment-focused, and strengths-based approaches into my work. I also consider the connection between your experiences, emotions, body, and nervous system.

You don't have to have everything figured out before you begin therapy. We can start wherever you are and work together from there.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is collaborative, compassionate, and individualized.

I believe you are the expert on your own life. My role is to walk alongside you, help you understand what you're experiencing, build on your strengths, and develop tools that support meaningful change.

I draw from EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills, attachment-informed therapy, trauma-informed care, and creative approaches, depending on the needs of each client.

For children and teens, I use developmentally appropriate and creative approaches to help them express emotions, build emotional awareness, develop coping skills, and feel comfortable in the therapeutic relationship.

With adults, we may explore trauma, anxiety, depression, relationships, self-esteem, life transitions, emotional regulation, or patterns that may have developed as a way of coping with difficult experiences.

I also pay attention to the connection between the mind, body, and nervous system.

Sometimes we understand something intellectually, but our body continues to respond based on what it has experienced. Creating awareness around those patterns can be an important part of healing.

My goal isn't to rush you or tell you how you should heal. It's to create a space where you feel understood, supported, and empowered to move forward at a pace that feels right for you.

What you can expect from me

I am currently accepting new clients. To connect with me, please contact Serene Mind Counseling + Evaluations at 813-321-8280 or [email protected].

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and begin understanding what has brought you to therapy.

We'll talk about what you're experiencing, what has been challenging, what you're hoping for, and what you would like support with. We'll also begin identifying your strengths and the areas where you'd like to see change.

You don't need to tell your entire story all at once. You don't have to know exactly what you need or have the perfect words to explain what you're feeling.

If you're working through trauma or difficult past experiences, we'll move at a pace that feels safe and manageable. If you're experiencing anxiety, emotional overwhelm, or difficulty regulating your emotions, we can begin exploring those patterns together.

For children and teens, I'll also take time to understand them within the context of their relationships, family, school, development, and environment. Parents and caregivers may be an important part of that process as well.

Most importantly, I want you to leave your first session feeling that you were genuinely heard and that we have a place to begin.

You don't have to figure it all out before you walk through the door. We'll start where you are.
