Great to meet you!

Great to meet you!

Hi there, I'm Jane Sia-Flaherty, a board-certified Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I specialize in helping adults and seniors who are struggling with depression, anxiety, dysfunctional family dynamics, trauma, abuse, and self-esteem issues.

I earned a master's degree in Social Work from San Diego State University, where I specialized in Direct Practice. I have a history of working with clients who have severe mental illness (SMI) and co-occurring substance use disorders.

Through lived experience, soul-searching, and finding meaning in life, I went back to school & became a therapist because I realized that my life purpose is to give others hope. I'm passionate about helping those who feel alone, uncared for, vulnerable, and mistreated, and advocating for them for as long as I can remember.

I look forward to working with you and empowering you with life and self-affirming skills, such as self-honesty, acceptance, kindness, and forgiveness. I strive to help you find meaning in painful experiences, build resilience, and rebuild your life from the inside out. Together, we will work towards enhancing your well-being and achieving your personal goals.

My approach to therapy

I approach therapy from a trauma-informed, client-centered, and strength-based perspective, focusing on genuineness and empathy. I aim to help clients connect their thoughts, feelings, and actions. I utilize a range of evidence-based interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Psychodynamic techniques, harm reduction, and relapse prevention to help clients overcome their challenges.

What you can expect from me

We will discuss why you want to go to therapy, what has been going on in your life, and how you have been coping, including what worked and did not work. I will gather information about your background, e.g., family history, history of trauma (if any), any safety issues, your support systems and strengths. Based on these discussions, we will collaboratively develop treatment goals that are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART goals), which will guide your therapeutic journey.
