I'm Janeice Evans, a Licensed Professional Counselor based in Columbia, SC, specializing in trauma therapy for children, teens, adults, and families. I am a BIPOC therapist deeply committed to culturally affirming care — which means I see you as a whole person, including the cultural, family, and community contexts that shape your experience. I accept most major insurance plans, including Aetna, Cigna, BCBS South Carolina, and UHC, and I offer both telehealth and in-person sessions to meet you where you are.

My approach is collaborative, culturally grounded, and built around your unique story. I draw from CBT, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Play Therapy, Art Therapy, Mindfulness-Based approaches, and Family Systems work — depending on what fits you best. For children, I lean heavily into play and art because that's how kids naturally process what words can't hold. For families, I use psychodynamic and systemic lenses to address patterns that run deeper than symptoms. Your racial, cultural, and lived identity are never set aside — they are central to how we work.

Your first session is a conversation, not an intake checklist. I want to understand who you are, what brought you here, and what healing looks like on your terms. We'll talk about your goals and your history at whatever pace feels safe. There's no pressure to share everything at once. You can expect warmth, honesty, and a genuine commitment to helping you move forward.
