Great to meet you!

When your job is helping other people through their worst moments, it can be hard to find someone who understands what that carries. I'm Janel, a Licensed Professional Counselor in Arizona and Wyoming with almost 20 years of experience, and I specialize in trauma, dissociation, and addiction.

I work with adults, young adults, adolescents, couples, and families, and I have a special heart for first responders, veterans, and medical providers. I'm a member of the Critical Incident Stress Management team for Campbell County, Wyoming, supporting first responders after crisis events, so I understand the stress and trauma that can come with serving others. I also help clients with PTSD, anxiety, depression, grief, relationship struggles, and family stress.

My approach to therapy

No two people are alike, so I customize therapy to fit you. My office is welcoming and non-demanding, and your input on how we work together is always encouraged. For trauma, I use EMDR, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Trauma-Focused CBT, and somatic work to help your mind and body process what you've been through. Internal Family Systems helps you understand and heal the different parts of yourself, and Seeking Safety supports clients working through both trauma and addiction. For couples, I draw on the Gottman Method and Emotion Focused Therapy. For clients who want it, I also weave Biblical principles into our work. Whatever brings you in, we'll go at a pace that feels safe and build toward real, lasting change.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is a chance to get to know each other in a relaxed, no-pressure setting. We'll talk about what's bringing you in, what's been hardest lately, and what you'd like to be different. You don't have to share everything at once, and you never have to explain why your job or your past is hard. I'll ask for your input on how you'd like our work to go, and by the end, we'll have a plan for where to start.
