Great to meet you!

I have been a therapist for over 18 years. I find that neurodivergent clients are able to connect well with me even if they have struggled with finding the right therapist in the past. I have worked in community mental health, inpatient psychiatric treatment, outpatient psychiatry, and private practice. I enjoy working with adolescents and adults to help them create a life they enjoy living. I have been in private practice for over 14 years and have experience and success building collaborative, therapeutic relationships with clients that allow them to feel secure and comfortable with working through problems and navigating change. After therapy goals are met, some clients will return for additional support and therapy during major life changes. It is an amazing to see the growth and change in people who are committed to working on themselves with support. I have significant experience working with treatment resistant depression, anxiety, borderline personality disorder, and compulsive hoarding behaviors. Over the years, I have worked with many adolescents and college students. I enjoy helping this population cope with change, adversity, and developing their own identity. They often achieve and surpass the goals that felt impossible at the start of treatment. Virtual therapy appointments can be very beneficial to clients with busy work, school, or family schedules. They are also helpful to clients managing chronic illness who may have difficulty preparing to leave the home or difficulty having the physical stamina to attend in person appointments regularly. In addition to being a therapist, I am a wife, a mom to a 14 year son and 7 year old daughter, and a cat person. I enjoy the beach, sports, yoga, ballet, music festivals, and watching funny TikToks.

My approach to therapy

When starting therapy, we will create a plan based on the client's goals and priorities. If the goal is unknown, I will help you decide what you want to target in treatment first. I use a variety of evidence based practices and integrate therapeutic styles to meet the individual needs of the client. These include CBT, DBT skills, solution focused, mindfulness, humanistic, and other interventions as appropriate.

What you can expect from me

My primary approach is to make the client as comfortable as possible at the first appointment, but there will lots of information gathering. If the client is ready to take the lead on what they wish to share, I will listen and help them provide the information we need to formulate a treatment goal and plan. If the client is new to therapy or uncertain of what information is important, I will guide them through questions and encourage them to share information to help me get to know them better. The first appointment will be about 1 hour.
