Great to meet you!

Hi, I'm Janny — a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist and Licensed Professional Counselor (CA & CO) with 10+ years of experience helping adults navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, and life's bigger transitions. As a second-generation Asian American, I bring lived experience and cultural humility to my work with Asian American clients and the broader BIPOC community — including the parts that are hard to name out loud, like family expectations, identity, and navigating two worlds at once. I also have a soft spot for fellow helpers — therapists, teachers, nurses, caretakers — who spend their days holding space for everyone else and deserve somewhere to set it all down.

My approach to therapy

My style is warm but direct: I show up as my real self, bring humor into the room, and won't shy away from the hard stuff — while making sure you feel supported and never judged. Trauma work is where my heart is. As Gabor Maté puts it, trauma isn't what happens to you — it's what happens inside you as a result. With that in mind, I look at how your lived experiences (whether you'd call them traumatic or not) shape the way you see the world and move through it, so healing becomes less about erasing the past and more about building the skills, confidence, and self-trust to face what's already happened and whatever comes next. I draw from CBT, DBT, and other approaches, choosing what fits you rather than forcing one method on everyone.

What you can expect from me

I believe therapy is a tool — an intentional space with a purpose, not somewhere you should have to live forever. In our first session, we'll talk through what brought you in and get clear on what you're hoping to walk away with, so we're aligned on what this space is for and what my role will be. From there, my job is to help you build the specific skills and insight you need to reach your goals — and eventually, to not need me anymore. Expect honest conversation, a relaxed vibe, and a real plan rather than open-ended sessions with no destination.
