Great to meet you!

Finding the right mental health provider can feel overwhelming, especially when you're struggling to feel like yourself or wondering whether anyone truly understands what you're going through. Whether you're navigating anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, past trauma, or simply feeling emotionally exhausted, I want you to know that you deserve care that sees you as a whole person, not just a diagnosis.

I work with adolescents, adults, and parents who are looking for a more personalized, compassionate approach to mental health care; that may look like new mothers entering parenthood, men with severe depression and lack of motivation; veterans with PTSD; college students with acute, high stress levels; or even adolescents needing assistance during this rapidly shifting stage. I understand that no two people experience mental health challenges in exactly the same way, which is why I believe your treatment should be just as unique as you are.

My approach to therapy

My approach to psychiatric care is built around a simple belief: your mental health and physical well-being are deeply connected, and you deserve care that looks at the whole person, not just a list of symptoms or a diagnosis. With my background in healthy lifestyles coaching, nursing, and psychiatric medicine, I've developed a genuine passion for bringing together evidence-based psychiatric treatment and integrative, holistic approaches to help you feel better, regain balance, and work toward lasting improvements in your overall well-being.

I incorporate several evidence-based therapeutic techniques into our appointments, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help you recognize and work through thought patterns that may be holding you back, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help you navigate difficult emotions while moving toward the things that matter most to you. I also use mindfulness-based techniques to help you feel more grounded, present, and better equipped to manage stress, along with motivational interviewing to help you build confidence and make meaningful, lasting changes. Depending on your needs and interests, we may also explore breathing exercises, guided imagery, improving sleep, nutrition, and other practical lifestyle strategies that can support your mental and physical health.

Medication management is also an important part of the care I offer. I recognize that psychiatric medications can make a tremendous difference in someone's life, and sometimes they're an essential part of getting better. At the same time, I don't believe medication should automatically be the only answer. If we decide medication may be helpful, I'll take the time to walk you through your options, explain how they work, discuss possible side effects, and answer your questions. I want you to feel comfortable, informed, and confident in the decisions we make together.

What you can expect from me

During our first visit, my top priority is getting to know you, not just what you're struggling with, but who you are as a person. Our appointments are conducted entirely through secure, convenient video calls (telehealth), allowing you to receive care from the comfort and privacy of your own home or another location where you feel comfortable. Your initial appointment will last approximately 60 minutes, giving us time to have a meaningful, one-on-one conversation about your mental health, your experiences, and what you hope to accomplish through treatment.

I want to understand what's been weighing on you, the challenges you're facing, and what you'd like to see change. We'll discuss your symptoms and medical history, along with your relationships, sleep, nutrition, stress, and daily habits, because each can influence how you feel. Together, we'll begin creating a personalized treatment plan that reflects your needs, values, and goals, including medication, lifestyle changes, or other supportive strategies when appropriate.

At Harbor of Renewal, I never want you to feel like just another appointment on the calendar. My hope is that our time together feels less like a rushed medical visit and more like a genuine conversation with someone who truly cares. There's no need to rehearse what you'll say or worry about having the right answers. You're welcome to ask questions, share concerns, and speak openly. I want you to feel heard, respected, and supported from the very beginning.

Most importantly, you don't have to have everything figured out before reaching out. Taking that first step can feel intimidating, and that's understandable. Healing isn't always a straight path, and everyone's journey looks different. My goal is to meet you where you are, walk alongside you through life's challenges, celebrate your progress, and help you build a healthier, more fulfilling life. Your mental health matters, and so do you.
