Great to meet you!

Hi, my name is Dr. J. Duncan — I’m a licensed clinical social worker and martial artist passionate about guiding people toward clarity, strength, and purpose. If you’ve been looking for a well-versed and passionate professional to help align your gifts, thoughts, and character with your life’s purpose, you’re in the right place.

With over 15 years of experience, I’ve worked with youth, adults, and families across diverse communities. As a Black male therapist, I blend therapy, movement, mindfulness, and spiritual insight to create personalized paths for growth, resilience, and emotional healing.

My mission is to help those struggling with stress, behavioral or emotional health, and life fulfillment overcome their challenges and step into their best selves. Let’s work together to guide your mind, move your heart, and build the warrior within — so you can live with clarity and purpose. Contact me today, and let’s take that first step forward.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is grounded in understanding, perspective, and practical growth. I believe that meaningful change begins with truly understanding the client’s story — their experiences, values, and challenges. From there, I help clients explore different perspectives to gain clarity, self-awareness, and emotional insight. Together, we work toward real solutions that fit their unique journey, lifestyle, and goals. My style is warm, conversational, and collaborative. I integrate evidence-based approaches with a person-centered focus, helping clients not only manage symptoms but also build tools for long-term wellness and self-empowerment.

What you can expect from me

In the first session, clients can expect a relaxed and open environment focused on understanding their story and what brings them to therapy. My goal is to create a space where they feel seen, heard, and safe to be themselves without judgment. We spend time exploring their goals, current challenges, and what they hope to gain from therapy. I also share how I work and what our process will look like moving forward. By the end of the session, clients usually walk away with a clearer sense of direction, a few immediate insights or tools, and a growing sense of trust in the journey we’re building together.
