Great to meet you!

I’m Jason Cornelius, a Licensed Professional Counselor in Keller, Texas. Before becoming a therapist, I spent nearly 20 years in education working with students, families, teachers, and school communities. That background gave me a deep understanding of the pressures children, teens, parents, and families face, especially around anxiety, school stress, self-worth, perfectionism, relationships, and life transitions.

My approach to therapy

My counseling style is warm, practical, and down-to-earth. I want clients to feel safe, understood, and never judged, while also leaving sessions with tools they can actually use in everyday life. I work with adolescents, adults, couples, and families, and I often support clients who are navigating anxiety, stress, low confidence, emotional overwhelm, family conflict, communication struggles, and difficult seasons of change.

In therapy, I use approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy skills, Solution-Focused Therapy, and person-centered counseling. More than anything, I believe therapy should be a place where clients feel seen, supported, and encouraged as they take meaningful steps toward healing and growth.

What you can expect from me

In the first session, clients can expect a calm, welcoming, and judgment-free space where we begin getting to know each other. I know starting counseling can feel uncomfortable or even intimidating, so my goal is to help clients feel at ease, heard, and respected from the beginning.

We’ll talk about what brought you to counseling, what has been feeling difficult, and what you hope will be different. I’ll ask questions to better understand your story, your current stressors, your strengths, and any goals you may already have. You don’t have to have everything figured out before you come in. We can sort through it together.

By the end of the first session, my hope is that you feel understood and have a clearer sense of what counseling with me will look like. We may begin identifying practical goals, possible next steps, and tools that can help you move toward healing, confidence, healthier relationships, and a greater sense of peace.
