Great to meet you!

Hi, my name is Jason King and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor with a strong background in addiction treatment and behavioral health. As an African American male clinician, I am passionate about increasing representation in the mental health field and creating a space where clients feel understood, respected, and empowered.

I have experience working with Veterans, adolescents, and adults navigating substance use, trauma, life transitions, and emotional regulation challenges.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is direct, practical, and relationship-centered. I believe real change happens when clients feel respected, challenged, and supported at the same time. I use evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and relapse prevention strategies, to help clients understand how their thoughts, behaviors, and past experiences influence their current struggles.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, you can expect a real, honest conversation in a judgment-free space. My goal is to understand what brought you to therapy, what challenges you're facing, and what you want to change or improve.

We’ll talk about your background, current stressors, and any history with substance use, trauma, or mental health concerns. I’ll ask questions to get a clear picture of where you are and where you want to go. Together, we’ll begin identifying goals and discussing practical steps to move forward.

The first session isn’t about having all the answers — it’s about building trust and creating a plan. You can expect a direct but supportive approach where you’re respected, heard, and challenged in a way that promotes growth.
