Great to meet you!

I came to this work first as a client, sitting across from therapists who didn't share my lived experiences and feeling the ceiling of that. That gap changed the direction of my life. I'm a mixed-heritage therapist with personal familiarity with foster care, immigration, and the mental health system, and I bring all of that with me into the room. My practice, Javonna Arriaga LLC, is rooted in liberation principles, creating a space where healing isn't just about managing symptoms, but about coming home to yourself. I see individuals, couples, and families, and I work from an anti-oppressive, decolonial lens that honors the whole of who you are.

My approach to therapy

So many of our struggles originate with the expectations of society, our families, and the stories we've come to believe about ourselves. My work is about making those stories visible and helping you decide which ones you actually want to carry forward. I draw on Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused approaches, Bowen Family Systems, and decolonial and Indigenous frameworks, always bringing a trauma-informed lens. I specialize in working with folks navigating relationship structures beyond the norm, including non-monogamy and polyamory, and I'm proudly affirming of LGBTQ+ communities, BIPOC identities, and all the ways humans love and exist.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is really about building a foundation of trust and getting a full picture of what brought you here. I'll want to understand not just the surface concern, but your life, your relationships, and what healing could genuinely look like for you. I'll ask questions, listen deeply, and we'll begin to map out what we're building together. You can expect warmth, no judgment, and a therapist who shows up as a full person, not just a professional in a chair. I offer a free 15-minute consultation if you'd like to connect before committing.
