Great to meet you!

Hello and welcome! I'm Jayla Harrison, a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) dedicated to helping individuals and couples navigate life's challenges while building deeper self-understanding, healthier relationships, and lasting emotional wellness.

I specialize in working with high-achieving Black women, neurodivergent adults, individuals navigating mood and personality disorders, and couples of color seeking greater connection, communication, and healing. Many of my clients are successful in their careers, education, or personal lives yet struggle with anxiety, burnout, perfectionism, relationship difficulties, emotional overwhelm, identity concerns, or the pressure of constantly having to "hold it all together."

As a Black woman who grew up on Chicago's South Side, I understand the importance of culturally responsive mental health care. I strive to create a warm, affirming, and nonjudgmental environment where clients can explore their experiences, process challenges, and cultivate meaningful change.

Whether you're navigating a life transition, managing the complexities of neurodivergence, healing from relational wounds, coping with mood-related challenges, or simply seeking a deeper understanding of yourself, I look forward to supporting you on your journey.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is collaborative, compassionate, and tailored to each client's unique experiences, identities, and goals. I believe meaningful change happens when clients feel safe enough to explore their thoughts, emotions, relationships, and life experiences while being challenged to grow in ways that align with their values.

I draw from relational and systemic approaches to help clients develop insight, build coping skills, and create lasting change. I also recognize that mental health does not exist in isolation. Family dynamics, cultural experiences, systemic barriers, relationships, and social expectations all influence how we experience ourselves and the world around us.

My clinical interests include supporting high-achieving Black women experiencing burnout, perfectionism, anxiety, and identity-related stress; neurodivergent individuals navigating work, relationships, and self-acceptance; and individuals living with mood and personality disorders who are seeking greater emotional stability and healthier interpersonal relationships. I am also passionate about working with couples of color as they navigate communication challenges, life transitions, cultural expectations, intimacy concerns, and relational healing.

I strive to provide culturally responsive, affirming care that honors the complexity of each client's lived experience. Together, we will identify patterns that may no longer serve you, build upon your strengths, and develop practical strategies that support your goals both inside and outside of therapy.

My goal is to help clients deepen self-awareness, strengthen emotional resilience, foster healthier relationships, and create lives that feel authentic, fulfilling, and aligned with their values.

What you can expect from me

Clients can expect a warm, welcoming, and nonjudgmental environment from the very first session. My goal is to create a space where you feel comfortable showing up as your authentic self and sharing your experiences at a pace that feels right for you.

During our first session, we'll explore what brings you to therapy, discuss your current concerns, and begin identifying goals that feel meaningful and achievable. I'll ask questions about your personal history, relationships, strengths, cultural experiences, and any prior therapy experiences to better understand who you are and what support may be most helpful.

I view therapy as a collaborative process, meaning you are the expert on your life and experiences. Together, we'll create a treatment plan that aligns with your values, builds on your strengths, and supports the changes you hope to make.

Whether you're a high-achieving professional experiencing burnout, navigating the unique challenges of neurodivergence, managing mood-related symptoms, working through relationship concerns, or seeking deeper personal growth, my goal is for you to leave each session feeling heard, understood, supported, and empowered.
