I know starting therapy can feel like a big step. In our first session, we’ll take some time to get to know each other, talk about what brings you here, and what you hope to get out of therapy. My goal is to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where we can work collaboratively.
We’ll go over some important information together, such as confidentiality, your rights as a client, the limits of confidentiality, cancellation policy, and how communication outside of sessions works. This helps ensure that you have a clear understanding of how we’ll be working together.
I’ll ask questions about your personal history, current concerns, and what’s been happening in your life lately. This helps me get a full picture of your experiences and how we can best approach your goals.
Together, we’ll start identifying what you’d like to work on. You don’t need to have all the answers — we’ll explore this at your pace. This session is about building a foundation for our work.
At the end of our first session, I’ll share a bit about how I see our work moving forward and what approaches might be most helpful. We’ll also schedule our next session if you’d like to continue.
