Great to meet you!

Great to meet you! I’m Jeanie, a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor who believes therapy begins with authentic connection and feeling truly understood. I earned my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northwestern University and have more than five years of experience supporting teens and adults in residential, intensive outpatient, and community-based settings.

As an immigrant, I understand how culture, language, family expectations, and the pressure to fit in can shape our emotional lives. I work with teens ages 15 and older, adults, and couples navigating anxiety, depression, complex trauma, perfectionism, relationship challenges, family conflict, identity concerns, and major life transitions. I especially enjoy supporting immigrants, third-culture individuals, LGBTQ+ clients, creatives, and driven professionals.

My style is warm, curious, engaging, and gently humorous. I provide therapy in English and Cantonese, with conversational Mandarin.

My approach to therapy

My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in genuine connection. I help you look beneath the surface to understand unmet needs, relationship patterns, and stories shaped by family and culture. I draw from psychodynamic therapy, CBT, DBT, ACT, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and Gottman Method based on your needs. My role is not to give you the “right answer,” but to hold up a mirror, walk alongside you, and help you move toward greater clarity, confidence, and meaningful change.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, we’ll take time to get to know each other and explore what brings you to therapy, what has been feeling difficult, and what you hope will change. You do not need to have everything figured out or know exactly what to say. I will ask thoughtful questions, listen with curiosity, and help you identify patterns, needs, and goals. Most importantly, we will begin creating a space where you feel safe, understood, and comfortable being yourself.
